Game development companies in Vancouver
Vancouver, BC has long been an attractive city for game studios - closely situated next to Seattle and Los Angeles, easily accessible from APAC, and a stronghold for tech companies in general.
It’s home to a tight-knit game developer community comprised of big-name companies like East Side Games, A Thinking Ape, Hothead Games, Kabam, Kano and several more.
It’s unsurprising then why ironSource chose Vancouver as the location for our second-ever Game Product Managers (GPM) Forum, an intimate meetup comprised of curated discussions and knowledge-sharing for senior mobile game product managers.
Game product managers and the game development community
ironSource’s goal for GPM Forum is to provide product managers with a space for open and honest dialogue that goes deeper with discussions typically seen at larger conferences in the mobile ad tech space and then connect local product managers with counterparts globally.
"I feel grateful to have been part of such a unique setting, where honest conversations about game development were able to take place in an open environment."
Elin Jonsson, Producer at East Side Games
At GPM Forum Vancouver, ironSource hosted 25 game product managers and company executives. The day started with lunch, followed by 5 one-hour-long sessions with presentations from Kano Games, A Thinking Ape, ironSource, East Side Games, and GameMakers.com.
Each presentation aimed to drive thoughtful discussion among the attendees. In fact, the discussions made it apparent that many game product managers face similar challenges, as they were interested to learn how their counterparts in other studios tackle and overcome them.
The presentations covered a range of topics including, how to use values and virtues to align PM teams, live ops, production structure for mobile games, the value of integrating rewarded video, and targeting and timing of offers.
Elin Jonsson, Producer on Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money at East Side Games summed up GPM Forum Vancouver perfectly, “The event was absolutely fantastic. It was an intimate gathering where top game developers in Vancouver had an opportunity to learn from each other and discuss, not only their success but also their failures. I feel grateful to have been part of such a unique setting, where honest conversations about game development were able to take place in an open environment.”
ironSource is excited to continue facilitating conversation and bringing game product managers and game developers together, hosting our next GPM Forum in Helsinki, followed by Montreal and other cities around the world.
