What is Frequency Capping?
Frequency Capping is a feature within ironSource’s monetization platform that allows publishers to limit the number of times a user sees a particular ad within a designated period of time. Frequency Capping is often used to avoid ad fatigue, or ad burnout, i.e. overexposure to a specific ad which often leads to a drop in click-through-rate while the number of ad impressions remains unchanged. Frequency capping would most likely be used in a campaign that measures click-through-rate as a valuable user metric as opposed to campaigns focusing on brand awareness.
