Bringing fun games to great players

Founded in 2011, Kwalee is a publisher and developer of hyper-casual, hybrid-casual and casual mobile games. With an emphasis on creativity and innovation, they’re established as a leading force in game development and count popular titles such as Hunt & Seek, Traffic Cop 3D, and Airport Security as part of their extensive portfolio.

Kwalee’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in gaming, and their team of skilled professionals, like Head of Growth Alexey Gusev, are key to helping bring great players to fun games. Gusev shares how his team used D0 Ad Revenue ROAS campaigns from Unity Ads to break through on profitability and expand to new markets.

A need for faster ROI

As a publisher evolving in their genres, the Kwalee team is committed to driving longer engagement in their games. Gusev shares, “By combining hyper-casual mechanics with more in-depth gameplay elements, we can reach a broader audience and maintain longer engagement.”

However, the need to remain ROI-positive for users with a shorter optimization window remains critical to their success today. Gusev continues, “For titles like Hunt & Seek, we weren’t able to run profitably with other campaign types, and we were looking for something that enabled us to optimize for a shorter D0 window.” With the added challenge of succeeding in rest-of-world markets, Kwalee were keen to try D0 Ad Revenue ROAS campaigns when the Unity team shared updates about backend performance improvements.

Getting up and running

Getting started on D0 Ad Revenue ROAS campaigns was made easier with the Unity Ads support team guiding Kwalee through onboarding and providing recommendations. Gusev shares, “The Unity Ads team was one of the most important elements in our successful onboarding to scale with D0 Ad Revenue ROAS campaigns. The team offered tailored insights and best practices, helping us optimize our campaigns and creative strategies from the beginning.”

One of the most crucial elements during Kwalee’s onboarding was the help their Unity Ads support team provided with data quality assurance between Kwalee’s MMP and Unity Ads’ reporting on D0 ROAS. This helped Kwalee understand the differences better and adjust their goals for the best performance.

Breaking through on D0 results

After onboarding, results started to ramp up for Kwalee. Investing in Unity Ads campaigns helped them achieve incremental growth on several of their titles using D0 ROAS campaigns that previously had challenges with profitability. The new campaign type also helped them substantially scale up in rest-of-world markets and increase their share of voice.

Gusev notes, “With Unity Ads, we saw a 22% improvement in D0 ROAS compared to our regular CPI setup, and we successfully scaled and ran rest-of-world campaigns, which hadn’t been profitable previously.”

A trusted partner

Beyond solving challenges for faster ROI, Kwalee continues to put trust in Unity Ads as a key partner in their user acquisition strategy. Gusev concludes, “Unity Ads has been a valuable partner for us at Kwalee. The platform is intuitive, and the team’s support helped us enhance our campaign performance significantly.”
